FIRST Robotics
For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen to develop the next generation of leaders in STEM. FIRST welcomes students of all abilities to participate in robotics competitions and develop science, engineering and technology skills. As well as building STEM skills, students gain leadership, communication and teamwork experience and are motivated to do well in school and attend college. Robotics competitions are available for students in kindergarten through high school like Jr. First Lego League (K-4), First Lego League (4-8), First Tech Challenge (7-12) and First Robotics Competition (9-12).
Their Mission Statement: Inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
